The 2017 Grammy’s are all anyone can talk about today and probably for the rest of the week. From Beyonce to Chance The Rapper to Katy Perry, there was a lot of talent up on that stage. In case you missed it here’s a quick recap:
Adele opened the show with her hit, “Hello,” setting the bar high for the rest of the night. The highly anticipated Beyonce performance was another key performance of the night and probably the most talked about. She hit the stage with a visually striking performance, no one could tear their eyes away from the TV. She celebrated her pregnancy as she sang songs from Lemonade. Another performance to talk about was definitely new to the Grammy stage, Maren Morriss performing her hit “Once” with Alicia Keys. The beautiful duet of the powerful voices were amazing and she handled her first performance beautifully. Katy Perry and A Tribe Called Quest both made powerful political statements with their performances. Of course, there are many other amazing performances to talk about like Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, as well as Chance the Rapper’s.
Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year all went to Adele. In her acceptance speech she thanked many people including giving a shout out to Beyonce for Lemonade about how much she loved her and was an inspiration to her. She also apologized for cursing on camera when she started over her tribute to George Michael, which she wanted to get just right. Chance the Rapper also swept the stage winning Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album, thanking God for his award as well as having a great performance showing everyone exactly why he won. Beyonce won Best Urban Album of the Year giving an inspiring speech. In addition Best Pop Duo/Group Performance went to twenty-one Pilots who accepted their award by first taking their pants off. Later it was revealed that they did it for an inspiring reason, when they were watching the Grammy’s in Ohio together they promised if they ever made it big and won a Grammy they’d accept their award pantless just like they were sitting on the couch, leaving an inspiring message that anyone, anywhere can do it so don’t give up.
A lot of other things happened during the 4 hour show. From powerful statements to amazing performance the 2017 Grammy’s were definitely impressive and something worth watching.
